Surrey allrounder Ralphie Albert has been named to captain an 18-player England Under-19 squad for their upcoming winter tour of Pakistan. The touring party, which includes Nottinghamshire’s Farhan Ahmed as vice-captain, will contest three Youth ODIs and a multi-day Youth Test, with all fixtures hosted in Rawalpindi.

The Young Lions will begin preparations with an extensive twelve-day training camp in Sri Lanka before heading over to Pakistan. Former Durham seamer Neil Killeen takes charge of the squad on an interim basis as head coach for the winter programme, supported by a coaching panel featuring Joe Denly, Steve Mullaney, and Kyle Hogg. The touring group features a blend of established youth internationals and fresh talent, offering critical developmental milestones for the next generation of English cricketers.

Squad Selection and Training Camp Details

The selection panel has included several standout performers from the county circuit alongside fresh developmental faces. Worcestershire left-arm seamer Jeet Varaich has earned his maiden call-up to the Young Lions setup. Additionally, management has structured specific integration plans for various squad members:

  • Training Camp Additions: Marley Simpson and Lyke Symington will join the initial camp in Sri Lanka.
  • Rawalpindi Arrivals: Charlie Taylor and Manny Lumsden will join the team directly in Pakistan under managed fast-bowling workloads.
  • Leadership Roles: Ralphie Albert assumes the captaincy with Farhan Ahmed acting as his deputy.
  • Coaching Staff: Neil Killeen leads the interim setup alongside experienced coaches Joe Denly and Steve Mullaney.

Full Schedule and Tour Objectives

England’s itinerary kicks off with a training camp in Colombo running from November 19 to 30. Following the preparation block, the team travels to Rawalpindi to contest three Youth ODIs scheduled for December 5, December 7, and December 9 respectively. The tour concludes with a marquee four-day Youth Test match running from December 13 to 16 in Rawalpindi, providing the youngsters with valuable exposure to subcontinental red-ball conditions.
