Punjab Kings shined with victory as they beat Mumbai Indians in an IPL match on 13 April 2022. It was an exciting game. Mayank Agarwal was awarded the Player of the Match. Mumbai Indians are still out of luck as they failed to win a single game in this season. Mumbai Indians won the toss and chose to bowl first. Things did not go according to plan as Punjab Kings set up a score that Mumbai Indians failed to acquire.
Mayank Agarwal and Shikhar Dhawan opened for Punjab. The batting lineup was efficient. The top individual score came from Dhawan(70). Others who contributed to the team total were Mayank Agarwal(52), Jitesh Sharma(30 not out), Shahrukh Khan(15), Baristow(12), Livingstone(2), Odean Smith(1 not out). With everyone’s effort and 16 extras, the team total came to 198-5 in 20 overs. Punjab had a good innings and they set up a decent target.
Mumbai bowlers tried their level best to limit the score and get wickets. They somewhat succeeded. However, Punjab gained a lot of extras at the end of the innings. Basil Thampi got 2 wickets while Unadkat, Bumrah and Ashwin gained a wicket each. Bumrah gave away the least runs(28).
Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan opened for Mumbai Indians. The highest individual score for the team came from Dewald Brevis(49). Others who contributed to the chase were Suryakumar Yadav(43), Tilak Varma(36), Rohit Sharma(28), Unadkat(12), Pollard(10), Ishan Kishan(3). M Ashwin, Bumrah, and Tymal Mills were unable to score any runs, but Ashwin was still standing at the end of the innings. In the end, the team total came to 186-9 in 20 overs with the help of 5 extras.
Punjab bowlers were very efficient in limiting runs and taking wickets. Odean Smith got 4 wickets while Rabada took 2 wickets and Vaibhav Arora gained a wicket. At last Punjab Kings won by 12 runs.
