The sensational all rounder of team India Ravichandran Ashwin has officially announced his retirement from international cricket following the third test match against Australia. Ravichandran Ashwin leaves international cricket after securing 537 wickets under his belt in just 106 games and he performed well with his batting capabilities as well. Ravichandran Ashwin helped his side register victories over the opponents on several occasions. Ravichandran Ashwin has announced his retirement from international cricket after the third test match against Australia and revealed his decision in a joint press conference with captain Rohit Sharma.
When Ashwin retires from the international format of the game, he is truly leaving behind a tremendous legacy and the youngsters need to fill the massive boot.
Speaking about his career, in the white-ball format, Ravichandran Ashwin made 181 appearances and secured 228 wickets. He made 116 ODI appearances and took 156 wickets at an average of 33.20, with best figures of 4/25. He also made 707 runs at an average of 16.44, including one fifty. Moreover, he is the 13th-highest wicket-taker in ODIs for India.
Ravichandran Ashwin played 65 T20Is, he took 72 wickets at an average of 23.22. His best figures are 4/8. Ravichandran Ashwin has scored 184 runs in 19 innings at an average of 26.28, with best score of 31. It is worth mentioning that he is the sixth-highest wicket-taker for India in T20Is. Ravichandran Ashwin has also showcased his batting capabilities in Test format and smashed 6 centuries and 14 half-centuries. Ravichandran Ashwin has also taken 537 wickets in test for matter and he has taken 5 wickets in an inning for 37 times and 8 times he removed 10 wickets in an inning.
It is worth mentioning that Ravichandran Ashwin has 765 scalps in 287 matches, and he is India’s second-highest wicket-taker across all formats, next to the legendary bowler Anil Kumble (953). Ravichandran Ashwin also won the 2011 50-Over World Cup and the 2013 Champions Trophy with India.
