Dhoni Speaks About His Future In IPL

Dhoni speaks about his future in IPL after Chennai Super Kings bag their fourth title.

Dhoni speaks about his future with the franchise and says that it is upto the BCCI and not about him being at the top. He also adds that they should look forward to the future of CSK as a team rather than him as a player.

He is of the opinion that the future of the franchise (IPL) lies in how they look at the upcoming player auctions.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) won against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by 27 runs  in the IPL final at Dubai on Friday. CSK managed to bag their fourth IPL title. Faf du Plessis drove CSK to the as he scored a half century, getting 86 off 59 deliveries, which helped CSK put up the great total of 192-3 for Kolkata Knight Riders to chase.

Kolkata were not able to get the required score and ended up getting only 165 for the loss of 9 wickets in their allotted 20 overs.

Although Kolkata started off good, as Venkatesh Iyer and Shubhman Gill built up a 91 run within the first wicket-loss, Shradul Thakur was able to turn the game in CSK’s favour when he took the wickets of Venkatesh Iyer (50) and Nitish Rana(0).

KKR kept losing wickets thereafter at regular intervals, leading CSK to victory when they fell short of 27 runs in the end.

Dhoni said that the future of CSK as a team should be the top priority rather than focusing on a single player. This should be done to ensure that the franchise does not suffer, he added.

He also addressed his concerns regarding building a strong core who are able to contribute to the franchise in the next 10 years.

He also thanked the fans, who were there to support CSK regardless of the venue where they played. He said that they made the team feel as if everatch was in Chennai. He also hopes that they are able to return to Chennai for the next season.
