Sri Lanka Wins The Third ODI By 78 Runs

Sri Lanka wins the third ODI by 78 runs in the ongoing series of the South African tour of Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka wins the toss and chooses to bat first. 

Avishka Fernando and Chandimal open for Sri Lanka. Avishka is on strike. Rabada opens the attack. 

Avishka departs at 3.6 overs with an lbw. He leaves for 10 runs from 18 balls including 2 fours in Maharaj’s ball. 

Kamindu Mendis takes the crease. 

Linde gets Chandimal at 6.2 overs with an lbw as well. Chandimal leaves with 9 from 12 balls including a four. 

Dananjaya de Silva is up next. de Silva tries to build a partnership with Mendis until Linde gets him with a catch in his own ball at 14.2 overs. Mendis goes with 16 from 29 including 2 fours. 

The next man is Charith Asalanka. Asalanka and de Silva share a short partnership until 19.5 overs when Markram gets de Silva caught by Klaasen. de Silva is gone with 31 from 44 balls including 2 fours. 

Dasun Shanaka is the next man for Sri Lanka. He lasted only for a short period until 24.1 overs when Maharaj got him caught by Mulder. Shanaka leaves with 13 from 12 balls including a four. 

Wanindu Hasaranga comes up to bat. The game moves forward to 26.4 overs when Hasaranga is caught by R. Hendricks in Maharaj’s ball. Hasaranga has to depart with 6 from 10 balls. 

Chamika Karunaratne is up next. The match gets to 37.2 overs when Shamsi gets Karunaratne for lbw. He departs with 16 from 39 balls including a four. 

Dushmantha Chameera gets to the crease. The match is at 41.1 overs when Sri Lanka loses the next wicket. Shamsi gets Asalanka caught by Klaasen. With 47 from 71 which included 2 fours, Asalanka departed. 

Maheesh Theekshana gets the bat next. 

It was 48.2 overs when Mulder got Chameera caught by Malan. Chameera is gone with 29 from 39 balls including 3 fours. 

Praveen Jayawickrama takes the crease. He builds a partnership with Theekshana which lasted till the end of the innings with Sri lanka at 203-9  with Jayawickrama 2 from 4 balls not out and Theekshana 10 from 26 balls not out. 

South Africa chases, opening with Malan and Markram, Malan on strike. Chameera opens bowling. Markram is caught by de Silva at 1.4 overs in Jayawickrama’s ball. Markram goes with 2 from 4 balls. 

Reeza Hendricks takes his place, but is bowled out by Chameera at 2.5 overs. Hendricks goes with a run from 7 balls. 

Rassie van der Dussen is up next, but is caught by Mendis at 4.1 overs. He goes for 5 from 5 balls including a four. 

Heinrich Klaseen is next at the crease.

The game proceeds to 9.1 overs when the next wicket falls. Malan is caught by de Silva in Theekshana’s ball. He goes with 18 from 19 balls including 2 fours. 

Wiaan Mulder is next, but he is taken out within the over by Hasaranga at 10.4 overs. Mulder got only 2 runs from 7 balls. 

Andile Phehlukwayo is next in line. The game is at 15.2 overs when the next wicket falls. Theekshana gets Kalseen for lbw. He goes with 22 from 30 including 3 fours.

George Linde arrives. At 21.1 overs Asalanka gets Phehlukwayo caught by Chandimal. He goes with 17 from 36 balls including 2 fours. 

Kagiso Rabada arrives at the crease. He departs at 23.5 overs with a catch by de Silva in Theekshana’s over. He goes with 8 from 13 balls including a four. 

Maharaj takes the crease. Linde is caught by Mendis in 24.2 overs, ball by Hasaranga. He goes with 18 from 24 balls including 2 fours. 

Tabraiz Shamsi gets to the crease. The innings end at 29.6 overs when Theekshana gets Maharaj caught by Chandimal. He goes with 15 from 17 balls including 2 fours. 

Shamsi remains not out with 9 from 19 balls as Sri Lanka wins the third ODI by 78 runs.
