India Gets A Lead On England

India gets a lead on England as the day 4 of the ongoing test stumps. The match starts with Rahul and Rohit opening and Rahul on strike. The first few overs go by without much happening, however by 9.2 overs the England bowlers manage to get a wicket. Rahul departs with 5 runs from 30 balls caught out by Buttler in Wood’s over.

Pujara comes in. The game continues. The second wicket falls for India on 11.6 overs when Rohit is caught as well in Wood’s over by Moeen Ali. Rohit goes with 21 from 36 balls including a six and 2 fours.

The Indian Skipper Kohli takes matters into his own hands. The game goes by without much happening for some time until Kohli almost loses his wicket to an lbw from Sam Curran in 21.6 overs. England loses a review as the umpire shakes his head. However Curran manages to get Kohli in his next over at 23.1 overs as he is caught out by Buttler. Kohli has to depart with 20 runs from 31 balls including 4 fours.

Rahane takes the crease. Match progresses as Rahane and Pujara build up a partnership. At this stage of the game this was a much needed partnership for India as England was leading at the end of day 3. Moreover the Indian batsmen were failing to fetch runs.

At 67.5 overs Rahane and Pujara build up a decent partnership as 139 comes up for India and Rahane completes his fifty. Overs go by and the partnership sticks till 72.4 overs when Pujara is caught out by Root in Wood’s over.

Rishabh Pant arrives at the crease. As the game proceeds Rahane has to depart at 75.6 overs with 61 runs from 146 balls including 5 fours, caught by Buttler in Moeen Ali’s over.

Jadeja steps in to fill the gap, but is sent back within 3 overs at 79.1 overs by Moeen Ali as well.

Ishant Sharma takes the bat. At the end of the day, he is still standing with Pant, India at 181- 6 from 82 overs when day 4 stumps due to bad lighting conditions.

India gets a lead of 154 runs over England at the end of day 4. The final day awaits as the match stumps as the Indian skipper feels that the light is not right. Moreover Root wants to change the ball as he didn’t want India to score some easy runs against spinners. Taking into account all the factors, the match stumps for the day.
