Ind-Eng 2nd test day 2

Day 2 of the Ind-Eng  2nd test starts with Rahul and Rahane at the crease and Robinson bowling. As a support to the Ruth Strauss foundation, both teams are wearing red caps. Robinson is off to a bad start as his first ball as Rahul hits it to the square leg for a couple. However Rahul has to depart with the next ball as he os caught out by Sibley. Rahul departs for 129 from 250 balls 12 fours and 1 six – scoreboard at 278-4.

To the crease comes Rishabh Pant who hits a four in the next couple of balls. The next over, of James Anderson sees the wicket of Rahane. He is replaced by Ravindra Jadeja who builds up a partnership with Pant.

The next few overs show a great partnership between Pant and Jadeja till Pant is sent to the dressing room by Buttler’s catch in Wood’s over. Pant goes with 331-6 on the scoreboard and 37 runs from 58 balls with 5 fours.

Mohammed Shami takes the crease and is sent back within the over- catch by Burns in Moeen Ali’s ball. Shami departs facing 2 balls with no runs.

In comes Ishant Sharma who tries to build a partnership with Jadeja but gives strike mainly to Jadeja until he is lbw ed  by Anderson. With 8 runs from 29 balls including a four, he departs.

Up next comes Jasprit Bumrah who departs within 2 overs with no runs facing 6 balls. In his place comes Mohammed Siraj. The next ball takes out Jadeja for 40 runs from 126 balls including 3 fours. India builds up a total of 364 from 126.1 overs along with 15 extras.

England starts the innings- openers Burns and Silbey are at the crease. Ishant Sharma gets a good start giving only 1 run in the first over. Burns and Sibley build up a partnership in the next few overs until Siraj takes out Sibley, who departs with 11 runs from 44 balls including a four.

In comes Hameed who is immediately relieved by Siraj. Joe Root takes the crease, who buld up a partnership with Burns until Burns departs with an lbw from Shami. Baristow comes in and is still standing.

At the end of day 2 England is at 119-3 from 45 overs.
