Ind-Eng 2nd test match commences on 12 august 2021. The match starts with England winning the toss and opting to bowl first. The Indian skipper Virat Kohli let us know that he would have done the same thing.
The opening pair K.L. Rahul and Rohit Sharma starts the match with Anderson bowling. The match progresses and after 43.4 overs and a partnership of 126 runs Rohit Sharma departs with 83 runs in his name with 11 fours and 1 six by facing 145 balls. He bowled out by James Anderson.
Next comes Cheteshwar Pujara who eparts shortly after facing 23 balls with 9 runs which included a four. Pujara departs leaving the scoreboard with 150 runs. He was caught out by Baristow, Anderson bowling.
Now comes the skipper Virat Kohli. He builds up a partnership with Rahul and gets the scoreboard to 267-3 by the time he departs at 84.4 overs. He manages to take 42 runs from 103 balls including 3 fours. He was caught out by Root in Robinson’s ball.
Next comes Ajinkya Rahane who faces 22 balls and takes one run. He is still batting at the end of day 1 along with K.L. Rahul who has scored a century. At the end of day 1, K.L. Rahul still at the crease with 127 runs from 248 balls with 12 fours and 1 six.
England was unable to get a good start to the match as the Indian batsmen, especially Rahul is able to score. They were unable to get a grip and choke the indian batting lineup at the end of day 1.
As far as India is concerned, the team is off to a great start with Rahul getting his century and a total of 276-3 from 90 overs at the end of day 1.
After seven years, an Indian batsman gets a test century. K.L. Rahul will be featured on the honorers board in the Lords stadium. It is an unforgettable day for K.L. Rahul and Indians.
