ICC Expands Teams Of Men’s ODI And T20 World Cup

During the global governing meeting, ICC has revealed the Global tournament schedule for men’s cricket and that scheduled between 2024-2031. It is also confirmed that the World Test Championship will continue and the number of teams has also increased in the World Cup tournament. International Cricket Council has confirmed that the Champions Trophy, a ‘mini’ World Cup and that happened in 2017 for the last time, will be resumed once again and the same will be played in 2025 and 2029 and the top-ranked eight one-day international teams will take participation in the contest.

Having said that the ICC has also confirmed that the World Cup of 50 overs format will have 14 teams, the tournament will feature 54-matches in 2027 and 2031, it is worth mentioning that last time there was only 10 teams in the World Cup tournament and England won the tournament in 2019. That said, the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup will also be expanded to a 20-team, and the tournament will have 55-matches in 2024, 2026, 2028, and 2030.”

ICC has also retained the format for the World Test Championship in the next cycle, the tournament will feature nine teams playing six series each to compete in the final every two years.
