Cricket West Indies confirmed that West Indies contracts have been awarded for the first time to Amir Jangoo, Matthew Forde and Mandy Mangru for the 2026-27 season. Director of cricket Miles Bascombe announced the new retainer lists for both men and women on Thursday, rewarding consistent domestic and international performances. Several senior players also transition into development deals or drop out of the primary retainer list as selectors prepare teams for upcoming global tournaments.

  • Amir Jangoo secured his maiden deal after scoring centuries in Test cricket recently.
  • Matthew Forde earned his inclusion thanks to strong white-ball performances and all-round utility.
  • Mandy Mangru joined the women’s contracted list following solid contributions across limited-overs formats.
  • John Campbell returned to the men’s retainer list for the first time since the year 2019.

Upcoming Global Qualifiers and Series

CWI tied every contract directly to upcoming international assignments for both squads. The men’s team faces the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier in February with hopes of securing qualification. Meanwhile, the women’s side prepares for an ODI series against Pakistan in December.

Officials emphasize that these selections give players stability and support within the international setup. Selectors also handed development contracts to young talents like Vitel Lawes, Jewel Andrew and Ackeem Auguste. These emerging prospects now remain in direct contention for selection across all formats.

Changes to the Retainer Lists

Several notable changes took place across both the men’s and women’s squads during this annual contractual cycle. Romario Shepherd, Brandon King and Alick Athanaze dropped out of the primary list after holding retainer deals previously. Shai Hope continues to lead the white-ball sides while Roston Chase retains the Test captaincy.

Hayley Matthews captains the women’s side as they target automatic qualification for the next World Cup. Selectors hope this blend of youth and experience will strengthen team depth. Players now focus on delivering strong performances during the upcoming international calendar.
