Legacy and Career Achievements
James Anderson concluded his remarkable international career in July 2024 during the Test series against the West Indies at Lord’s. He stands as one of the most durable fast bowlers in cricket history, maintaining his fitness and effectiveness well into his 40s to breach the milestone of 700 Test wickets. Engineer recalled advising Anderson to stay motivated during a difficult phase when the bowler was omitted from England’s squad for the 2022 tour of the West Indies.
Calls for Old Trafford Tribute
Having previously been honored with a stand named after him at Old Trafford alongside Clive Lloyd, Engineer expressed confidence that Lancashire will soon dedicate a stand to Anderson. While suites and a bar already carry honors for players at the venue, Engineer maintains that a physical stand is the most fitting tribute for a player who defined English fast bowling for over two decades.
