Union Berlin forward Emmanuel Latte Lath has challenged his teammates to match his competitive intensity and work rate as the club navigates a demanding campaign in Germany’s top flight. The experienced Ivory Coast international, whose career has spanned spells across Italy, Switzerland, England, and the United States, believes his extensive background provides a valuable blueprint for the rest of the squad to follow.
- Emmanuel Latte Lath began his senior professional career at Italian club Atalanta back in 2016.
- The striker opened his Bundesliga goalscoring account for Union Berlin with a strike in a 3-3 draw against Eintracht Frankfurt.
- Union Berlin suffered a heavy 7-0 defeat against reigning champions Bayern Munich, an encounter that provided stark tactical lessons.
- The forward stressed that true leadership on the pitch extends far beyond wearing the captain’s armband.
A Career Forged Through Global Experience
Reflecting on a nomadic career path that featured loan stints with various Italian clubs, a breakout period with Swiss side St Gallen, and a notable spell in England with Middlesbrough, Latte Lath emphasized the importance of self-determination. He noted that young players must take full ownership of their professional choices rather than relying on others. Having experienced varied tactical setups globally, the striker aims to channel his hard-earned resilience into lifting Union Berlin’s performances in the Bundesliga.
Embracing Lessons From Heavy Defeats
Despite experiencing a bruising 7-0 defeat against domestic powerhouses Bayern Munich earlier in the season, Latte Lath views such challenging fixtures as crucial masterclasses for personal and collective development. Coming up directly against elite performers such as Harry Kane and Michael Olise allowed the forward to study high-level movement and decision-making under intense pressure. As the season progresses, the attacker remains determined to absorb these valuable on-field lessons and inspire his colleagues through relentless defensive effort from the front.
