Spain’s Eugenio Chacarra seized control of the DP World India Championship by carding a stunning nine-under-par 63 on Saturday, establishing a commanding five-shot lead at the Delhi Golf Club. Returning in the morning to complete his remaining seven holes from the third round, the Spaniard finished strong with three birdies and an eagle on the final hole to reach 19-under-par 197 overall.
His impressive 63 matched the lowest round of the week previously set by Laurie Canter. Chacarra now sits in prime position to claim his third victory of the season and potentially climb to the summit of the Race to Dubai rankings, having previously secured his maiden DP World Tour title in India back in 2025.
Tournament Standings and Chasing Pack
- Eugenio Chacarra: 19-under-par (67, 67, 63) leads the tournament by five strokes.
- Daniel Hillier: New Zealand golfer sits in second place at 14-under after carding his second consecutive 64.
- Joost Luiten: Dutchman occupies third position at 13-under following a solid round of 67.
- Angel Hidalgo: Spaniard stands fourth at 12-under after shooting his third straight 68.
Challengers and Home Contingent
Behind the leading group, a congested leaderboard features JC Ritchie, Adrian Meronk, and Scott Jamieson sharing fifth place at 11-under-par. Defending champion Tommy Fleetwood remains in contention as well, sitting tied for ninth place at nine-under after carding a bogey-free 68. Meanwhile, the home contingent is also fighting for notable finishes in the strong international lineup.
Om Prakash Chouhan leads the local players at five-under and tied 31st, while veteran campaigner Anirban Lahiri stands four-under at tied 41st. Other Indian players making the weekend cut include Yuvraj Sandhu, Karandeep Kochhar, Saptak Talwar, and Shiv Kapur. Although weather disruptions and storms previously affected the tournament schedule earlier in the week, Chacarra remains firmly in the driver’s seat as the action moves to the dramatic final round.
