Sunrisers Hyderabad secured a victory against Punjab Kings in the IPL match on 17 April 2022. It was a very exciting match. Both teams put out a fairly good game, but Hyderabad was better. Umran Malik of Hyderabad was awarded the Player of the Match for his efforts. Sunrisers Hyderabad won the toss and opted to bowl first. It was later revealed to be the right decision.
Shikhar Dhawan and Prabhsimran Singh opened for Punjab. Punjab batters tried their level best to build up a huge target. Hyderabad bowlers were careful not to let runs slip. Further, they gathered wickets at frequent times. The highest individual score for the team came from Livingstone(60). Others who contributed in building the total are Shahrukh Khan(26), Prabhsimran(14), Odean Smith(13), Bairstow(12), Jithesh Sharma(11), Dhawan(8). Rahul Chahar, Arshdeep Singh, Vaibhav Arora and Rabada failed to score any runs,but Rabada was still standing at the end of the innings. The team total came to 151-10 in 20 overs with 7 extras.
Hyderabad bowlers were very particular about limiting runs and getting wickets. Umran Malik got 4 wickets while Bhuvaneshwar Kumar knocked out 3 wickets. T Natarajan and J Suchith gained a wicket each. They ended Punjab’s innings for 151 runs, which made their target 152.
Abhishek Sharma and Williamson opened for Sunrisers Hyderabad. Markram(41 not out) scored the most runs for the team. Others who joined the chase were Pooran(35 not out), Tripathi(34), Abhishek Sharma(31), Williamson(3). The Hyderabad team reached their target of 152 in 18.5 overs for the fall of 3 wickets.
Punjab bowlers did not get a chance to do much. Rahul Chahar got 2 wickets while Rabada took a wicket.
It seemed like an easy win for Hyderabad, but their efforts in the game are to be duly noted. At the end, Sunrisers Hyderabad won the game by 7 wickets.
