Lucknow Super Giants won with KL Rahul. They beat Mumbai Indians in an IPL match on 16 April 2022. Bad luck seems to follow the Mumbai team as they lose yet another game. Mumbai Indians continue to lose their 6th game in a row.
The toss went to Mumbai Indians who opted to bowl first. Things didn’t go as planned for Rohit Sharma and his team. They were unable to chase the target set by Lucknow Super Giants.
KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock opened for Lucknow. The highest individual score came from Rahul(103 not out). The century paved the way to Lucknow’s victory. Others who joined in the effort were Manish Pandey(38), Quinton de Kock(24), Deepak Hooda(15), Stoinis(10), Krunal Pandya(1 not out). With 8 extras, the team total came to 199-4 in 20 overs.
The Mumbai bowlers tried every trick to limit runs and gain wickets. However, Rahul was in good form. Unadkat got 2 wickets while M Ashwin and Fabian Allen gained a wicket each. The bowlers failed to get a grip on Rahul.
Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma opened for Mumbai. Suryakumar Yadav(37) scored the most runs for Mumbai. Others who joined the chase were Dewald Brevis(31), Tilak Varma(26), Pollard(25), Unadkat(14), Ushan Kishan(13), Fabian Allen(8), Rohit Sharma(6), M Ashwin(6). Bumrah and Tymal Mills were still standing at the end of the innings without any runs. In the end, Mumbai Indians made it to 181-9 in 20 overs with 15 extras.
Lucknow bowlers were fairly good. They managed to limit runs and gain wickets. Avesh Khan got 3 wickets while Holder, Chameera, Bishoni and Stoinis gained a wicket each. As the game ended, Lucknow Super Giants defended their score of 199 to win the game by 18 runs.
