Royal Challengers Bangalore beat Mumbai Indians in a very exciting IPL match on 9 April 2022. Anuj Rawat of RCB was crowned the player of the match for his supreme skills. Both teams presented a very good game. There were some exciting moments which had the spectators at the edge of their seats. RCB won the toss and opted to bowl first. It later proved to be a good decision.
Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma opened for Mumbai Indians. Suryakumar Yadav(68) was the top scorer for Mumbai. Apart from him, the others who scored were Ishan Kishan(26), Rohit Sharma(26), Unadkat(13), Dewald Brevis(8), and Ramandeep Singh(6). Tilak Varma and Pollard were unable to score any runs. Anyway, along with 4 extras, Mumbai Indians reached a total of 151-6 in 20 overs.
RCB bowlers were very sharp. They managed to keep the pressure in the game as they limited runs and plucked out wickets. Harshal Patel and Hasaranga got 2 wickets each while Akash Deep got a wicket.
Faf du Plessis and Anuj Rawat opened for RCB. Anuj Rawat(66) gained the most runs for the team. Others who contributed were Virat Kohli(48), Faf du Plessis(16), Glenn Maxwell(8 not out), Dinesh Karthik(7 not out). With 7 extras, RCB reached a total of 152-3 in 18.3 overs.
Mumbai bowlers were unable to get a hold of the run flow, but they tried their level best to build the pressure. There were moments in the game where it was in Mumbai’s favour. Jaydev Unadkat and Dewald Brevis got a wicket each. In the end Royal Challengers Bangalore won the match by 7 wickets.
It was an intense game. Equal forces had collided with each other. This year was not so good for Mumbai Indians. Including this match, they had lost 4 consecutive matches. Let us hope that the champions will return to their former glory.
