KKR got a huge win against Punjab Kings in the IPL match on 1 April 2022. It was a very exciting match. Umesh Yadav of KKR was crowned the player of the match. Kolkata won the toss and opted to bowl.
Mayank Aggarwal and Shikhar Dhawan opened for Punjab. Umesh Yadav takes out Mayank within the over. Rajapaksa(31) scored the highest for Punjab. Others who scored were Rabada(25), Livingstone(19), Dhawan(16), Harpreet Brar(14), Raj Bawa(11), Aggarwal(1), Odean Smith(9 not out), Arshdeep Singh(0 not out). Shahrukh Khan and Rahul Chahar were unable to score any runs. Along with 11 extras, they came up with a score of 137-10 in 18.2 overs.
Kolkata bowlers really did a fascinating job restricting runs and getting wickets. The star bowler Umesh Yadav got 4 wickets. Southee plucked two wickets while Shivam Mavi, Russel and Narine got a wocket each.
The game progressed and it was Kolkata’s turn to bat. Rahane and Venkatesh Iyer opened for Knight Riders. Russel(70 not out) was the star batsman for Kolkata. He made sure that the middle order was not weak. After the fall of the top order batsmen, Russel took it upon himself to win the game for Kolkata. Others who contributed in his quest were Shreyas Iyer(26), Billings(24 not out), Rahane(12) and Venkatesh Iyer(3). Nitish Rana was unable to score any runs.
Punjab bowlers tried their level best to restrict runs and get wickets. They were somewhat successful until Russel came to the crease. Chahar got 2 wickets while Rabada and Smith gained a wicket each.
In the end, Kolkata Knight Riders were able to win the game as they scored 141-4 in 14.3 overs. It was a very exciting game to watch.
