Gujarat Titans won against Lucknow SuperGiants. It was a very exciting match. Gujarat Titans won the toss and opted to bowl. Mohammed Shami of Gujarat was the player of the match.
Rahul and de Kock open for Lucknow. Shami takes out Rahul in the first ball, building pressure for the Lucknow team. Evin Lewis took his place.
Deepak Hooda(55) was the top scorer for the SuperGiants. Others who scored were Ayush Badoni(54), Krunal Pandya(21 not out), Lewis(10), Manish Pandey(6), and Chameera(1 not out). Gujarat bowlers were able to restrict the Lucknow team to 158 for 6 in 20 overs along with the extras. They did a pretty good job of restricting runs and maintaining pressure as they plucked out wickets at regular intervals.
Shami took 3 wickets while Aaron got 2 and Rashid Khan took a wicket.
Shubman Gill and Wade opened for Gujarat. The bowlers of Lucknow were not bad. Chameera took out Gill in the first over. The pressure was on. Vijay Shankar replaced him.
Rahul Tewatia(40 not out) scored the most for Gujarat. Wade(30), H.Pandya(33), Miller(30), Vijay Shankar(4), and Abhinav Manohar(15 not out) were the other scorers. Gujarat Titans chased the 159 target and reached 161 for 5 in 19.4 overs along with some extras.
Lucknow bowlers did a decent job, but were unable to win the game. Chameera took 2 wickets, while Avesh Khan, Krunal Pandya and Derpak Hooda gained a wicket each.
Considering the fact that this was the first match ever for both teams, they did a splendid job providing entertainment. Both teams managed to keep the spectators on the edge of their seats till the end of the match. At last, Gujarat Titans won their fist ever match.
