New Zealand registered victory over India. It was one of the bad days for India. After losing the toss, India was sent to bat first. The New Zealand bowlers were able to restrict the run flow for India.
Ravindra Jadeja(26 not out) was the highest score for India. Hardik Pandya(23), Pant(12), Rahul(18), Rohit(14), Kohli(9), Ishan Kishan(4) were the other scores. Thakur and Shami did not manage to get any runs. Along with some extras, India put up a score of 110-7.
The New Zealand bowlers did not allow India to gain runs with their tight fielding and bowling techniques. After India set the target, New Zealand set out to chase. They achieved the target in just 14.3 overs getting 111-2 and winning by 8 wickets.
After the loss India is most likely out of the tournament. If India wants to qualify for the semi-finals, they will have to win all the remaining matches. Even still, their qualifying for the semi-finals depend on a variety of factors like other matches results and net run rates of other teams.
India will have to win the remaining matches with a great margin and get lucky to be in the semi-finals. The New Zealand team was very well prepared and made a wise decision on winning the toss. They were able to restrict India to a small score and chase the target with ease. Daryl Mitchell(49) and Williamson(33), along with Guptill(20) and Conway(2) chased the 111 target in 14.3 overs.
New Zealand is now in 3rd position with 2 points, while India is at 5th position with 0 points. India lost both games they played, producing such a result. The Indian fans are in great despair. If India gets really lucky there is still a thin chance that they may qualify for the semi finals. As of now, New Zealand registered victory over India.
