England Maintains Their Lead, By 345 Runs

England maintains their lead, by 345 runs at the end of day 2. The match resumes with Rory Burns and Haseeb Hameed at the crease. It is Ishant Sharma who resumes the attack. India fails to get a wicket until 49.6 overs when Shami bowls out Rory Burns. Burns goes with 61 from 153 including 6 fours and 1 six.

Dawid Malan arrives at the crease. Bumrah comes to bowl the next over. It is 62.6 overs when the next wicket falls for England as Jadeja bowls out Haseeb Hameed. Hameed departs with 68 from 195 balls including 12 fours.

Next up is Joe Root. Bumrah bowling the next over. The game progressed to 81.2 overs when Root completed his half century leaving England at 236-2. At 85.3 overs Malan gets his half century as well with England at 257-2. 

Good news comes for India when Malan is caught out by Pant at 93.6 overs in Siraj’s ball. Malan goes for 70 from 128 balls including 11 fours.

Baristow comes to the crease next. Root gets his century with a four at 103.2 overs England at 333-3. The game slipping away from India. However a wicket fell at 107.3 overs when Kohli caught Baristow in Shami’s ball. Baristow leaves with 29 runs from 43 balls including 4 fours and 1 six.

Jos Buttler arrives next. The game reaches 111.3 overs when Buttler is caught by Ishant in Shami’s ball. Buttler returns with 7 runs from 12 balls including a four.

Moeen Ali takes the crease next. Root is uprooted at 117.2 overs, bowled by Bumrah. With 121 from 165 including 14 fours, Root returns to the dressing room.

Sam Curran takes his place. The next wicket came within a couple of overs at 118.4 overs when (sub) Axar caught Moeen Ali in Jadeja’s ball. Moeen Ali is gone for 8 runs from 18 balls including a four.

Craig Overton comes up next to bat. The game gets to 127.1 overs when the next wicket falls for England. Sam Curran is caught by (sub) Mayank. Curran leaves with 15 runs from 30 balls including 2 fours.

Ollie Robinson comes next and is still standing with Craig Overton at the end of the day. Day 2 stumps as England maintains their lead by 345 runs with a score of 423-8 from 129 overs.
