The match started by Rohit and Rahul at the crease and Anderson bowling. Within the first over he manages to take out Rahul with a catch from Buttler. Rahul leaves the field facing 4 balls unable to find any runs.
Pujara takes his place. The game progresses without any runs for India except some extras and singles. At 4.1 overs Pujara is caught by Buttler in Anderson’s ball. Pujara goes for 1 run from 9 balls.
The skipper Virat Kohli takes matters into his own hands. The match gets to 10.5 overs when Kohli departs like the rest. Buttler catches in Anderson’s ball. It seems as if all of the Indian batsmen are departing in the same manner as England tightens their grip. Kohli departs for 7 from 17 balls including a four.
Rahane arrives at the crease. The match is at 25.5 overs when Rahane departs with 18 runs from 54 balls including 3 fours, again caught by Buttler, ball by Robinson.
Rishabh Pant is the next in line. At 29.1 Pant departs in Robinson’s ball caught by Buttler again, with 2 runs from 9 balls.
Jadeja comes to the crease. The game progresses to 36.4 overs when Robinson caught Rohit out in Craig Overton’s over. Rohit departs with 19 from 105 balls including a four.
Shami comes and goes in the very next ball caught by Rory Burns.
Next is Ishant Sharma. The game gets to 37.2 overs when Jadeja falls from lbw by Sam Curran with 4 runs from 29 balls.
Bumrah is at the crease. Curran gets him with an lbw in the next ball. Siraj comes in next and the match gets to 40.4 overs when the finger goes up again for Siraj, caught by Root in Overton’s ball.
India ends the innings with 78 from 40.4 overs.
Rory Burns and Haseeb Hameed open for England. Ishant Sharma opens the attack. However both the batsmen manage to get a partnership of 120 from 42 overs with fifty for each of them.
Haseeb Hameed first completed a half century at 36.2 overs with a four.Rory Burns gets to fifty at 40.4 overs again with a four.
At the end of the day England leads with 42 runs at 120-0. Rory Burns 52 from 125 balls with 5 fours and 1 six and Haseeb Hameed 60 from 130 with 11 fours
