The glamorous and much-anticipated Sporting event, Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 gets a new title sponsor, the very popular fantasy platform Dream11 has been named as the title sponsors of the upcoming tournament this year. The Chinese smartphone maker Vivo was enjoying the rights of the title sponsor of IPL but due to the current crisis in the border of India and China, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has taken the decision to suspend the sponsorship with the Chinese brand for this year. Dream11 has bagged the title sponsorship of IPL 2020 by defeating many big names such as Tata Sons, Unacademy, and Byju’s, Dream11 has got the contract for ₹222 crore. That said, Unacademy had bid Rs 210 crore, Tata Sons ₹180 crore, and Byju’s had bid ₹125 crore.

Having said that, BCCI was receiving ₹444 crore from the Chinese smartphone maker per year and that means the new contract will not help the governing committee to overcome the financial crisis but it will definitely help to move on with a title sponsor.

Speaking about the tournament, it was supposed to start on March 28 but due to the outbreak of coronavirus and lockdown across the country, the committee was forced to postpone the league and now it will start in September and the venue is set as UAE. That means we are just a couple of weeks away from the official start of the 2020 IPL tournament and the same will be sponsored by the very popular and engaging fantasy league Dream11.
