What Happens Next in the Tournament
With this defeat, Punjab FC suffered their first loss of the campaign, dropping down to fourth place with seven points from their opening matches. Manager Pavlos Dermitzakis attempted to inject fresh energy after the break by introducing substitutes Muhammad Suhail and Karish Soram, but the visitors struggled to break down a resilient Mohun Bagan backline. Goalkeeper Vishal Kaith came up big in the closing stages, denying Planas and locking down the victory. Mohun Bagan will look to build on this momentum as the league season intensifies, while Punjab FC must regroup quickly to maintain their early-season top-four push.
