Michael Carrick will remain in charge of Manchester United for their upcoming Premier League fixture away against Chelsea this weekend. Despite a dismal start to the current campaign that has placed immense pressure on the coaching staff, the 45-year-old manager will be given the opportunity to reverse the team’s fortunes at Old Trafford. Carrick oversaw the team training session on Tuesday morning as preparations began for Saturday’s crucial visit to Stamford Bridge.
United are currently enduring a difficult stretch, having gone eight matches without a victory across all competitions. The alarming run was compounded on Sunday when the club suffered a heavy 3-0 defeat at home against Bournemouth. That result left Manchester United sitting precariously just one place above the relegation zone in the Premier League standings, sparking intense speculation regarding Carrick’s immediate future at the club.
