Brazil football legend Ronaldinho is preparing for a remarkable playing return at the age of 46, with Italian third-division club Ravenna confirming his upcoming appearance on Saturday. The iconic playmaker, who secured the 2002 FIFA World Cup and won the prestigious Ballon d’Or in 2005, initially agreed to join Ravenna back in June. Having officially retired from professional football in 2015 after illustrious stints with European giants including Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona, and AC Milan, Ronaldinho has since transitioned into a shareholder role at the Italian outfit.
Ravenna management officially confirmed that the wait for the marquee appearance has a set calendar date, capturing global attention. The club operates in Group B of the Italian third tier, sitting six points behind league leaders Spezia as they chase promotion to Serie B for the first time since 2008. The veteran attacker aims to notch his milestone career goals upon stepping back onto the pitch.

Context and Career Background
Ronaldinho’s involvement with Ravenna extends far beyond a traditional playing contract, as the World Cup winner also holds a shareholder stake in the club located between Venice and San Marino. The team is fiercely motivated to secure a promotion back to Serie B, a level they have not competed at since 2008. Bringing in a player of Ronaldinho’s global stature provides an unprecedented boost to the squad’s campaign as they look to bridge the gap with Spezia at the summit of Group B.
