Sachin Sarjerao Khilari delivered a stellar performance to secure a gold medal with a new Games record, leading an inspiring Indian podium sweep in the men’s shot put F46 event at the Asian Para Games on Wednesday. The reigning Paris Paralympics silver medallist successfully defended the continental crown he had previously captured in China, asserting his absolute dominance in the discipline with a powerful final effort.

That massive final effort comfortably shattered the previous Games record of 15.67 metres, crowning a sensational campaign for the Indian delegation. Fellow compatriots Mohd. Yasser and Parveen joined Khilari on the podium to complete a memorable 1-2-3 finish for the country in this classification.

Understanding the F46 Classification
The F46 sport classification category specifically caters to field event athletes who compete with a single above or below elbow amputation, or possess an equivalent upper-limb impairment. Competitors in this division participate in a standing posture, relying heavily on explosive rotational core strength, hip drive, and powerful leg momentum to generate maximum throwing distance.
This historic medal sweep further bolsters India’s growing athletics stature on the international paralympic stage. Khilari’s ability to peak at the right moment underlines his mental fortitude following his success in Paris, while the impressive podium finishes by Yasser and Parveen highlight the immense depth of talent emerging within the Indian para-athletics setup.
