Uttar Pradesh recovered from a disastrous start in their second innings to reach 102 for four at stumps on the second day of their Ranji Trophy Group A match against Goa in Kanpur on Monday. Captain Aryan Juyal anchored the recovery with an unbeaten 60, stretching his team’s overall lead to 140 runs after the hosts successfully bowled out the visitors for 164 earlier in the day.
Match Situation and Key Performances
Goa had resumed their overnight reply on 43 without loss but suffered a dramatic collapse as leg-spinner Zeeshan Ansari tore through the batting order with exceptional figures of five for 45. Following Ansari’s five-wicket haul alongside useful contributions from Kartik Yadav and Vansh Chaudhary, Goa were restricted to 164, handing Uttar Pradesh a crucial first-innings lead of 38 runs. In their second essay, UP experienced an immediate top-order wobble when openers Abhishek Goswami and Madhav Kaushik were dismissed for ducks in the very first over by bowler Yash Kasvankar, leaving the side teetering at one run for the loss of two wickets.
- Aryan Juyal: Played a captain’s knock, remaining unbeaten on 60 from 113 deliveries to steer his team out of trouble.
- Zeeshan Ansari: Wreaked havoc with the ball, picking up five wickets for 45 runs to dismiss Goa for 164.
- Karan Sharma: Provided valuable resistance with a gritty knock of 31 runs during an 87-run third-wicket partnership.
- Yash Kasvankar: Struck twice in the opening over for Goa before finishing with impressive bowling figures.
