Uttarakhand all-rounder Prema Rawat scripted history by scoring the fastest fifty in women’s T20 cricket during the Senior Women’s T20 Trophy match against Hyderabad in Pune. Batting at No. 4, she raced to an unbeaten half-century off just 14 deliveries to help her side post a formidable total of 187 for 2. However, her remarkable display did not stop with the bat as she later claimed two wickets to seal a dominant victory.

  • Prema Rawat smashed an unbeaten 14-ball fifty against Hyderabad.
  • She hit six boundaries and four sixes during her record-breaking knock.
  • The all-rounder surpassed the previous 15-ball T20 record.
  • Rawat also claimed figures of 2 for 12 with the ball.

Record-Breaking Knock

Entering the crease in the 18th over, Prema Rawat immediately shifted the momentum of the innings by attacking the bowling attack. She struck three consecutive boundaries off medium pacer Sakshi Rao before hammering 18 runs in a single over from offspinner Vanka Pooja. Later, she took down Kunchala Niteesha with a flurry of boundaries to achieve the milestone.

Previously, the record for the fastest T20 half-century was shared by Marie Kelly, Fatima Sana and Laura Harris who all needed 15 balls. Meanwhile, partner Raghvi Bist anchored the other end superbly by scoring an unbeaten 72 runs off 50 balls to build the total.

All-Round Brilliance in Pune

Defending the big target, Prema Rawat delivered with the ball by removing both opposition openers early in the chase. Hyderabad struggled against the disciplined attack and could only manage 98 for 8 in their twenty overs. As a result, Uttarakhand secured a massive win.

Earlier this year, the 24-year-old made her international debut for India and has since established her credentials in the shortest format. Also, she has enjoyed success in franchise leagues, winning consecutive titles with Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the Women’s Premier League.
