Under-pressure Manchester United manager Michael Carrick has broken his silence regarding his uncertain future at Old Trafford, firmly stating that he is here to do his job and requires no public assurances from the club hierarchy. Speaking ahead of his team’s upcoming weekend fixture, the 45-year-old manager addressed mounting criticism following an alarming sequence of poor results that has left the club languishing near the relegation zone in the Premier League standings.
- No Assurances Needed: Carrick insisted he understands the immense responsibility of his role and does not require validation from directors or owners.
- Worst Start in Decades: Manchester United have accumulated only seven points from their opening eight league matches, marking their worst start in 40 years.
- Bruno Fernandes Decision: Carrick defended his choice to bench club captain Bruno Fernandes against Bournemouth, calling it a purely tactical call.
- Defiant Stance: Despite calls for his dismissal by pundits and fans following a 3-0 home defeat, Carrick confirmed he has no intention of resigning.
Current Form and Squad Struggles
Manchester United have managed just two victories across all competitions from 12 matches this season, intensifying scrutiny on the coaching staff. The recent 3-0 defeat at home to AFC Bournemouth left the twenty-time English champions sitting precariously just one point above the relegation zone. Carrick noted that despite the hostile atmosphere and full-time boos from frustrated supporters at Old Trafford, the playing group remains completely committed and hungry to reverse their fortunes starting this weekend.
Looking Ahead to Chelsea Clash
The spotlight now shifts entirely to Saturday’s challenging away trip to face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. Carrick addressed speculation surrounding Bruno Fernandes, reiterating that the Portuguese midfielder remains fully committed to the club despite earlier friction over tactical setups. As the team prepares for this crucial Premier League encounter, Carrick remains resolute in his mission to steer the squad out of trouble and restore stability to Old Trafford.
