War wounded veterans supported by the War Wounded Foundation are preparing to participate in the upcoming Adani Ahmedabad Marathon. Scheduled for November 29, 2026, the event will see soldiers who sustained severe injuries during active service take to the running tracks to promote resilience and inspire participants.

The participation marks a significant milestone for the foundation, which has supported disabled military personnel since 2002. Four distinguished veterans—Nk. Ashok Kumar, Subedar Satbir Singh Chauhan, Ex Sepoy Rajesh Kumar, and Ex Cfn. Naresh Kumar—will join thousands of runners in the city to champion the spirit of perseverance.

Key Highlights

  • First-Time Appearance: The War Wounded Foundation will make its debut appearance at the Adani Ahmedabad Marathon on November 29, 2026.
  • Dedicated Initiative: The marathon continues its core Run For Our Soldier initiative, channeling registration proceeds toward armed forces welfare.
  • Battle Casualties: Participating veterans suffered severe injuries including mortar blasts, mine explosions, and nerve damage during operations like Parakram and Rakshak.
  • Inspiring Message: The veterans aim to demonstrate that physical disabilities can be converted into abilities through discipline and mental resolve.

Journey Beyond the Battlefield

Each participating soldier carries a unique story of overcoming adversity following their discharge from active duties. Nk. Ashok Kumar overcame severe leg injuries and post-recovery weight battles to become a social worker and regular runner. Similarly, Subedar Satbir Singh Chauhan, despite living with 100 percent disability from nerve damage, channels his energy into fitness and adventure. Ex Sepoy Rajesh Kumar and Ex Cfn. Naresh Kumar have similarly embraced long-distance running as a tool for mental wellness and physical fitness after facing life-altering blast injuries during their service years.

The marathon’s initiative has grown significantly, drawing thousands of defense personnel and civilians alike. By sharing their personal journeys of recovery, these soldiers hope to leave spectators and fellow athletes with a powerful message of hope and patriotism as they cross the finish line.
