Asian Games trap shooting gold medallist Neeru Dhanda is set to feature as a prominent speaker at the upcoming NDTV World Summit 2026, scheduled to take place in New Delhi on October 22 and 23. The ace shooter carved her name into sporting history during the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games by becoming the first Indian woman to claim an individual gold medal in trap shooting.
Her incredible campaign in Aichi-Nagoya extended well beyond the individual trap event as she dominated multiple categories. Displaying exceptional composure, tactical awareness, and remarkable focus under extreme pressure on the shooting ranges, Dhanda successfully added a mixed team gold alongside Kynan Chenai and a women’s team silver alongside her compatriots, taking her total medal tally to three and earning the prestigious role of India’s flag-bearer at the closing ceremony.
From Humble Beginnings to International Glory
Dhanda’s meteoric rise to the pinnacle of global sports is a powerful testament to absolute grit and relentless sacrifice. Growing up in Jind without access to expensive modern shooting infrastructure or professional firearms, she initially honed her skills by practicing with a family-owned double-barrel shotgun and shooting at makeshift tin-can targets. Her remarkable journey from grassroots obscurity to continental champion exemplifies the triumph of raw talent over severe financial constraints.
