KKR Retires Jersey No. 12; Here’s Why

Before starting the IPL 2026 tournament, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have officially announced a decision to retire jersey number 12. So let’s get into the article to check out the reason behind the new announcement.

It is officially announced that KKR has retired jersey number 12 as a tribute to the legendary all-rounder Andre Russell, and the franchise has lovingly designated as the Eternal Knight. It is also said that Andre Russell will be a ‘power coach.’

He played 140 games in IPL for KKR and scored 2,651 runs at a strike rate of 174.17 and he has captured 123 wickets. It is worth mentioning that he is only the second all-rounder in the history of IPL to register more than 2000 runs and 100 wickets. He is also holding the best bowling figures for a KKR bowler in IPL history, registering 5 for 15 against the Mumbai Indians.
