After winning the toss,Delhi Capitals opted to bowl first. Their strategy worked out pretty well. Kuldeep Yadav of Delhi Capitals was awarded the Player of the Match for his efforts.
Aaron Finch and Venkatesh Iyer opened for Kolkata Knight Riders. Nitish Rana(57) scored the most runs for the team. Others who helped in building the team total were Shreyas Iyer(42), Rinku Singh(23), Venkatesh Iyer(6), Indrajith(6), Finch(3). Narine, Russell and Southee lost their wicket before they could score any runs. Umesh Yadav and Harshit Rana were at the crease when the innings ended, but they did not score any runs. With 9 extras, the team total came to 146-9 in 20 overs.
Delhi bowlers were very prominent in getting wickets. They managed to dismiss 3 of the Kolkata batsmen without any runs and restricted 2 others who remained from taking runs. Kuldeep Yadav took 3 wickets while Mustafizur got 3 wickets. Chetan Sakariya and Axar Patel gained a wicket each. Delhi’s bowling lineup did a decent job at restricting runs and getting wickets. Kuldeep Yadav especially did a commendable job with the ball.
Prithvi Shaw and David Warner opened for Delhi Capitals. Warner(42) was the highest individual scorer for the team. Others who joined the chase were Rovman Powell(33 not out), Axar(24), Lalit Yadav(22), Mitchell Marsh(13), Thakur(8 not out), Pant(2). Prithvi Shaw lost his wicket before he could score any runs. With 6 extras,the team total came to 150-6 in 19 overs.
Kolkata bowlers did everything they could to control the runflow and get wickets. Umesh Yadav picked up 3 wickets while Harshit Rana and Sunil Narine got a wicket each. As the match came to an end, Delhi Capitals won by 4 wickets.
