Kolkata Knight Riders Registered Comfortable Victory In Opening Match

It was the first match of the IPL 2022 and it is the new era in the tournament as well. Mahendra Singh Dhoni has stepped down from the captaincy of Chennai Super Kings and the franchise appointed Ravindra Jadeja as their new captain, on the other hand. Kolkata Knight Riders also introduced their new captain this season and the young Shreyas Iyer is the new captain of the KKR. The opening match of the tournament was a low scoring game but Kolkata Knight Riders registered a comfortable victory over the defending champions and started the campaign with happy faces. Kolkata Knight Riders won the toss and elected to field first in the match and the Chennai Super Kings did not had a good start as the opening pair of the team went back very cheaply. Ruturaj Gaikwad was not able able to score a single run in his account while Devon Conway went back to the pavilion after adding just 3.

Robin Uthappa as well as Ambati Rayudu added 28 and 15 runs respectively. The captain Ravindra Jadeja added 26 runs and remained unbeaten but the Captain Cool Mahendra Singh Dhoni showcased amazing performance and smashed 50 runs in his account from just 38 deliveries and that helped Chennai Super Kings to finish at 131/5 after 20 overs.

Kolkata Knight Riders didn’t had much trouble in the reply as Ajinkya Rahane scored 44 runs while his partner Venkatesh Iyer was dismissed for 16. Nitish Rana and the captain Shreyas Iyer added 21 and 20 runs respectively. Having said that, Sam Billings added 25 runs in his account and that was enough for Kolkata Knight Riders to register a comfortable victory.
