After registering a massive victory in the first test match, India has hammered Sri Lanka by 238 runs in the second and final test match of the series which was a day and night match as well and the host completes a 2-0 series whitewash. Sri Lanka ended their second innings at 208 on the third day of the match. Jasprit Bumrah (3/23) and spinner R Ashwin (4/55) shared seven wickets among themselves for India. India came out to bat first in the match but had a batting collapse, as the opening pair of the side Mayank Agarwal and Rohit Sharma scored 4 and 15 respectively. Virat Kohli was disappointed once again as he went back to the pavilion after scoring 23 runs while Hanuma Vihari added 31 runs in his account.
After that, Rishabh Pant tried to entertain but he went back to the pavilion for 39 but Shreyas Iyer showcased a brilliant performance as he smashed 92 runs and helped his side to present a decent score of 252 runs on the board.
In the reply, the visitors also faced a serious batting collapse as the team all out for just 109 runs on the board and that gave a massive lead in the hands of team India. Jasprit Bumrah was the most successful as he removed 5 wickets in the innings.
Speaking about the second innings of team India, Mayank Agarwal added 22 in his account while the captain Rohit Sharma smashed 46 in the innings. Virat Kohli added only 13 runs to his account.
Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer smashed 50 and 67 respectively which helped team India to finish 303.
Dimuth Karunaratne smashed 107 runs and Kusal Mendis scored 54. The remaining players went back very cheaply and that presented a massive victory to India.
It is worth mentioning that Rohit Sharma has registered series victory in the first series as the captain. The international duties of the players has ended and now we will witness for the exciting matches of the IPL 2022 from March 26.
