UEFA announced a bold decision and the same is related to the rule of the away goals. It is revealed that the away goals rule is now changed and the same will be implemented for all of its club games from next season. So without making any further delay let’s dive into the article to check out the new announcement.
The rule of away goals is changed in favour of extra time and a penalty shootout. That said, the away goal rule was introduced in 1965, and that one was meant to decide the winner of a two-legged knockout tie.
Well, that means from the 2021-2022 season, if the two teams score the same number of goals over the two legs, then the winner of the match will be decided by playing two 15-minute periods of extra time at the end of the second leg. If the match is still tied then the winner will be decided by penalty shootouts.
