India will take on Sri Lanka next month and there will be no regular skipper and the key players in the squad as they will be busy in England. The team India Men’s will play three-match ODI series and three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the squad without the key players like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have they well playing in England. The sensational left-hand batsman Shikhar Dhawan will lead the team India in Sri Lanka and the medium-pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been named vice-captain.
Having said that, the squad has many new but talented faces, team India will feature the middle-order batsman Nitish Rana, along with the all-rounder K Gowtham, opening batsman Ruturaj Gaikwad and fast bowler Chetan Sakariya among others.
It is worth mentioning that Devdutt Padikkal who showcased an amazing performance in the Indian Premier League got selection in the team and he is also an opening batsman. The selectors have also called Ishan Porel, Sandeep Warrier, Arshdeep Singh, Sai Kishore, and Simarjeet Singh for the Sri Lankan tournament as net bowlers.
The upcoming matches in Sri Lanka will be played at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, and the ODIs will be played on July 13, 16, and 18 followed by the T20Is on July 21, 23, and 25.
