The National Cricket Club (NCC) in Mumbai formally announced the selection of 45 promising young cricketers following a recently concluded talent hunt program. The comprehensive selection initiative was organized between October 26 and October 28 at the NCC grounds located at Cross Maidan, Marine Lines, focusing on discovering exceptional raw talent.

A special recognition ceremony was held at the club to celebrate the selected prospects and officially welcome them into the fold. The event featured prominent figures in regional cricket administration, including club president and Mumbai T20 League Governing Council chairman Rajdip Gupta. Mumbai Cricket Association President Ajinkya Naik attended the ceremony as the chief guest alongside several other MCA Apex Council members to encourage the young aspirants.

Selection Breakdown and Squad Composition

The rigorous scouting process evaluated numerous hopefuls within the 16 to 23 age bracket, specifically targeting players who lacked access to standard premium training facilities and elite professional coaching. The final group of 45 selected individuals represents a well-balanced squad designed to cover various tactical requirements on the field. The cohort includes sixteen dedicated batters, fourteen specialist bowlers, twelve versatile all-rounders, and three specialized wicket-keepers.

  • Age Bracket: Focused on promising young players aged 16 to 23 years old.
  • Squad Distribution: Comprises 16 batters, 14 bowlers, 12 all-rounders, and 3 wicket-keepers.
  • Coaching Panel: Supervised by experienced mentors including Level 4 coach Kiran Desai.
  • Player Support: Selected prospects received complete playing kits and year-long free training.

Pathways and Professional Development

Beyond receiving complimentary equipment during the presentation event, the selected group is set to benefit from structured year-long professional coaching at the National Cricket Club under experienced guidance. Furthermore, the initiative provides these emerging talents with direct pathways to represent the club across various affiliated tournaments and gain entry into the competitive Mumbai cricket league ecosystem.

Club leadership emphasized that the primary objective of the program is to bridge the gap for underprivileged athletes, ensuring that exceptional talent in the region receives the platform and resources necessary to transition into professional competitive sports.
