The hangover of T20 World Cup 2026 is still in the air and the fever of T20 game is continuing as today the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially announced the first phase of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. The upcoming IPL 2026 season will be starting from March 28 and BCCI has announced the details until April 12. As three states are scheduled to undergo State Assembly elections during this period, and the authorities will be releasing the complete schedule of the upcoming season after the poll dates are announced. The first match of the upcoming 19th edition of IPL 2026 will be featuring the defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
The current schedule includes 20 matches and they will be played across 10 venues: Bengaluru, Mumbai, Guwahati, New Chandigarh, Lucknow, Kolkata, Chennai, Delhi, Ahmedabad and Hyderabad.
During this period, the upcoming IPL 2026 tournament will feature four double-headers, with the afternoon matches beginning at 03:30 PM IST and the evening matches will be starting at 07:30 PM IST. Following the opening encounter, Mumbai Indians will be playing against Kolkata Knight Riders.
The first double-header of the tournament will be happening on April 4, 2026, and the match will be played against Delhi Capitals versus Mumbai Indians in the afternoon match, followed by Gujarat Titans taking on Rajasthan Royals..=
Rajasthan Royals will start the home campaign in Guwahati, where they will play against Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians. Punjab Kings (PBKS). Royal Challengers Bengaluru will play five home matches in Bengaluru and two in Raipur. Punjab Kings will play four home matches in New Chandigarh and three in Dharamshala, while Rajasthan Royals will play three home matches in Guwahati and four in Jaipur.
